Kathmandu, Aug 29: The death toll due to the sudden floods that occurred in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday morning has reached 616.
As of 6:00 am this morning, 616 bodies have been recovered, Nepal Police Spokesperson Abinarayan Kafle said. Of them, 13 bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 41 in Nuwakot, 45 in Dhading, 233 in Chitwan, 48 in Gorkha, 31 in Tanahun, 158 in Nawalparasi East and 47 in Nawalparasi West.
Necessary rescue and search operations in coordination and cooperation with concerned agencies, locals are being carried out while roadblocks are also being removed to resume regular traffic, Spokesperson Kafle said.
