Okhaldhunga, Aug 26: A tragic fire swept through Siddhicharan Municipality-4, Charkhu, last night, leaving two houses in ruins and causing a staggering loss of Rs 2.6 million.
The blaze, sparked by a short circuit, completely engulfed the two-storey home of Kotmaya Karki, destroying everything inside, including grain, pottery, jewelry, and cash, which amounted to an estimated loss of Rs 1.2 million.
Her daughter-in-law, Gyankumari Karki, also faced significant losses, with her home suffering damage worth around Rs 1.4 million due to the destruction of food grains, jewelry, and cash.
With the efforts of the Nepal Police, Armed Police, the Siddhicharan Municipality Fire Brigade, and local volunteers, the fire was doused after three hours.
There were no injuries or fatalities reported in this incident.
