Dang, Aug 1: Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya, has directed the security bodies to carry out their responsibilities with greater sensitivity while maintaining social harmony, religious tolerance and mutual unity.
Addressing a virtual meeting of the Lumbini Province Security Committee held Friday at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the Chief Minister Acharya spoke the need for fostering mutual cooperation and coordination to prevent a recurrence of the recent untoward incidents reported in various districts of Tarai-Madhes.
He also called for maintaining peace and security, echoing the need for security agencies to be more sensitive to address the situation. Acharya also directed the authorities concerned to increase monitoring of misinformation, propaganda and provocative contents likely to be circulated through social networking sites.
According to him, the entire security mechanism has been mobilized with high morale in view of the latest unrest surfaced in various districts in Tarai-Madhes.
In the meeting, the province chiefs of the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, the Nepal Army and the National Investigation Department and the Chief District Officers of Banke, Kapilvastu, Bardiya, Rupandehi and Nawalparasi (West) briefed the Chief Minister about security situation, issues related to social harmony and potential risks in their respective districts.
