Kathmandu, March 5: Today’s House of Representatives (HoR) meeting passed the Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2081. The HoR meeting passed the proposal tabled by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel with a majority of votes. Likewise, the HoR meeting rejected a proposal tabled by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dr Swornim Wagle seeking the HoR disapproval of the Ordinance on Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility (First Amendment). Likewise, responding to the queries raised on the ordinance, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel said that the accusation of downsizing the role of the National Planning Commission and Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission was untrue. Likewise, he expressed confidence that the grey list placed on Nepal by the Financial Action Task Force will be removed soon. Minister Paudel said that the government was closely observing the development on this issue and Nepal will be removed from the FATF grey list in the given timeline. “We will remove Nepal’s position from the grey list before the deadline of two years,” the Finance Minister said.
